Five mobile RPGs worth your evenings
Mobile RPGs have a reputation for being grind machines, and plenty earn it. But a few have figured out how to tell a real story without demanding your whole life. These are the ones I keep reinstalling.
The best of the bunch handle short sessions gracefully. You should be able to clear a quest on a train ride and feel like you made progress, not like you wasted five minutes on a loading screen. Pacing matters more than flashy graphics here.
My advice when starting any new RPG is to push past the first two hours before judging it. Most of these games front-load tutorials and only open up once you've got a party and some gear. The slow start is almost always worth it.
Also, don't sleep on turn-based combat. It sounds dated, but on a phone it's often more comfortable than twitchy real-time systems, especially one-handed on a commute.
